ALEXISONFIRE To Release 'Old Crows/Young Cardinals' Next Month

May 29, 2009

Coming off their 2007 breakout album "Crisis" — which achieved platinum-selling status in Canada after debuting at #1 on the Top 200 Nielsen Soundscan chart there — ALEXISONFIRE have announced they'll release their fourth studio album, "Old Crows/Young Cardinals", on June 23 via Vagrant Records in the U.S.A. and on Dine Alone in the rest of the world. Fans can get an early listen of "Young Cardinals" — the first single off the new album — up now exclusively on Imeem.

For the new album, the St. Catharines, Ontario-based rock group — Dallas Green (vocalist/guitarist),Jordan Hastings (drummer),Wade MacNeil (guitarist/vocalist),George Pettit (vocalist) and Chris Steele (bassist) — re-teamed with Julius "Juice" Butty (PROTEST THE HERO, CITY AND COLOUR) to produce. Even more intense and focused than before, the sound here is bracingly rhythmic, shot through with a do-or-die vocal urgency and sharp harmonies.

"'Old Crows/Young Cardinals' was built on the foundation of 'Crisis'; musically it moves at a feverish pace," explains singer Pettit. "The lyrics span from metaphysical rebellion, to living as a nomad. This album is the culmination of the history of our band. Personally, I feel it is our best record yet, but you get to be the judge of that."

"Old Crows/Young Cardinals" marks ALEXISONFIRE's fourth full-length CD and follows "Crisis" which was hailed by the popular U.K. rock magazine Kerrang! with a five-out-of-five rating. Their previous release, 2004's "Watch Out!" debuted at #6 on the Soundscan chart and was certified gold in Canada in just 12 weeks — the disc has since gone onto platinum status — and earned the group their first-ever Juno Award for "New Group of The Year."

In early June, ALEXISONFIRE will head to Germany for the Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park festivals. Next up, they'll hit London for a three-night sold-out stand at Borderline. Late June, the group will perform on the entire Vans Warped Tour 2009 (June 26-August 23),joining NOFX, BAD RELIGION, FLOGGING MOLLY, TSOL, UNDEROATH and many more on the annual punk rock extravaganza which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.
