ALICE IN CHAINS Guitarist Talks Sports On ESPN's 'SportsNation'

January 25, 2010

ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell took part in an online chat about sports and music on Wednesday, January 20 at ESPN.com's SportsNation.

A transcript of the chat is available at this location.

ALICE IN CHAINS will embark on a new North American tour in early February. This round of dates is the group's latest in support of its first studio album in 14 years, "Black Gives Way To Blue", which arrived in September and features the recording debut with the band of singer and guitarist William DuVall.

The band recently released a new single called "Your Decision" for rock radio, with a video available via iTunes. The slower, acoustic-based number is reminiscent of earlier ALICE material in the same vein, but DuVall told The Pulse of Radio that he thinks the album "moves the ball forward" musically for the band. "It absolutely moves the ball forward, absolutely, and we wouldn't have done it otherwise, if we didn't think that we had a shot at moving the ball forward," he said. "I mean, that's totally been the goal from day one and I think it's achieved, you know. I think it adds to, it builds upon what's there."
