Ever wondered how AMORPHIS would sound like if they sang in their own language (Finnish)? Check out track no. 4 on the band's MySpace page over the next couple of weeks (until January 7). Featured is one of AMORPHIS' rarest songs ever: "Kuusamo", a cover version of DANNY WINN's Finnish interpretation of the old TOTO hit "Africa". AMORPHIS recorded the song in 2002 for the soundtrack of the Finnish road movie "Menolippu Mombasaan", which also includes VERENPISARA's version of BONEY M's "Rasputin".
AMORPHIS will enter Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki, Finland in early January 2007 to begin recording its new album for a late spring/early summer release. Mixing duties will be handled by Mikko Karmila (NIGHTWISH, STRATOVARIUS) in late February at Finnvox studios.
AMORPHIS has been confirmed for next year's installment of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place August 2-4, 2007 in Wacken, Germany.
AMORPHIS' latest album, "Eclipse", was issued in a limited vinyl edition in a deluxe gatefold sleeve by Black Lodge Records under worldwide license from Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Far from the Sun" was recorded at Sonic Pump studios with engineer Nino Laurenne (THUNDERSTONE). The production duties were handled by the band and Marco Hietala (NIGHTWISH) for vocals. The mixing was taken care of by Karmila (who previously worked with the group on their "Am Universum" CD) at Finnvox in Helsinki.
