ANNOTATIONS OF AN AUTOPSY Parts Ways With Drummer, Announces Replacement
August 5, 2008UK-based death metallers ANNOTATIONS OF AN AUTOPSY have issued the following update:
"We have parted ways with long-term drummer Dan Smith. Due to various reasons, it wasn't working out with us and him. We felt his heart was no longer in it after expressing his want to leave on numerous occasions this year which showed when he played live. We took the decision to replace him with good friend Lyn Jeffs, who also drums in label partners INGESTED. He's a sick drummer and is going to take ANNOTATIONS OF AN AUTOPSY to a whole new level. See him in action at the Summer Slaughter UK tour."
ANNOTATIONS OF AN AUTOPSY is currently working on material for its second full-length album, tentatively due next year. According to the band, "From what we've written so far, it's a big progression from [2008's] 'Before The Throne Of Infection' in technicality, heaviness, speed and structure. We feel this is what we've been working up to and this album will depict us to a tee.
We've taken a more old-school death approach to writing mixed with our current sound because it just feels right, there are a lot more solos/lead parts more blasts heavier slams and all the other cliché 'this-is-gonna-be-amazing' lines bands drop when theyre promoting a new CD. Even if no one else likes what we've written, we're the most happiest we've been with our output. We've locked ourselves away in a room and just written what has come naturally. It's taken a lot of influence from bands we worship, aka NILE, DECAPITATED, HATE ETERNAL, DEVOURMENT, DEICIDE, and has a concept that follows on from where 'Before The Throne' left off."
"Before The Throne Of Infection" was released on April 15 via Siege Of Amida/Ferret Music.
According to a press release, "ANNOTATIONS OF AN AUTOPSY formed in late 2006 with the purpose of writing aggressive low-end death metal and playing it with passion, aggression and determination to insure they made their mark on the metal music scene worldwide. Influenced by bands such as SKINLESS, THE ACACIA STRAIN and ABORTED, mixing old- and new-school death metal to form their own brand of aggressive death. Releasing their first EP, 'Welcome To Sludge City', in May 2007, the band made their mark and formed a huge fan base off the back of it both in the UK and worldwide. The live shows and 2007 EP both achieved glowing reviews and the band played some big shows, including supporting ALL THAT REMAINS."
