ANTHRAX Bassist Says BLABBERMOUTH.NET Is 'The STAR Magazine Of Heavy Metal'

November 4, 2005

Jeff Muendel of the Maximum Ink music magazine recently conducted a short interview with ANTHRAX bassist Frank Bello. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

Maximum Ink: How is the [JUDAS PRIEST] tour going so far?

Frank Bello: "It was great then and it’s great now. We'll be out with them through October 30th, then hooking up with them again in January. Then Charlie Benante and his wife are having a baby in February."

Maximum Ink: Were you a PRIEST fan growing up?

Frank Bello: "Oh, yeah, along with KISS and all those great bands. They were on top of their game."

Maximum Ink: I read about a lot of ANTHRAX controversy on Blabbermouth.net. What exactly is up with Joey Belladonna and/or John Bush as the permanent lead singer of ANTHRAX?

Frank Bello: "Well, Blabbermouth is the Star [tabloid] magazine of heavy metal. We just want to finish the tour. But there’s no animosity! John has a new baby, so he has other focuses right now. I haven't talked to him recently, but we all love him."

Maximum Ink: The set list for this tour revolves around the band's older material as Joey Belladonna is the singer [on the early albums]. Do you include anything newer? Is Joey singing any of John's stuff?

Frank Bello: "Nope. No newer stuff at all. People want to hear the older stuff and this is their chance. We have a big catalog. It’s hard just to choose songs from the old stuff."
