ANTHRAX Guitarist Says ROBERT PLANT Is 'The Coolest, Most Down-To-Earth Guy'

March 24, 2008

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian is currently on the road with PEARL the band fronted by Pearl Aday, Ian's fiance and daughter of legendary crooner Meat Loaf on five dates in the UK as the support act for VELVET REVOLVER.

Commented Ian: "The PEARL tour is kicking ass. The headline gig at Barfly [on March 21] was great. Thank you for coming out. We didnt know what to expect being a relatively unknown band and the response was awesome.

"The [first] two VELVET REVOLVER shows have been ridiculous!! The shows are sold out and the venues are full when we hit the stage. Both Wolverhampton and Birmingham were kick-ass.

"Two songs in and Pearl owns it. Every hand in the air, thank you very much. Thanks for taking a chance on something new. We'll be back after the record comes out in the fall. Can't wait for London tomorrow night.

"Robert Plant [LED ZEPPELIN] was hanging out with us in Wolverhampton and Birmingham and he is the coolest, most down-to-earth guy. His son's band AURA was opening the shows, and Robert was there to help out. He was loading gear!! It's surreal to be sitting in the dressing room talking to Robert Plant. I think he's coming to London as well. He's the man.

"Andy Buchanan is out with us shooting tons of pics. We'll have a shit load to post soon.

"The VR band and crew have been so cool to us. They are going out of their way to make us comfortable, and I can only say thank you so much, brothers."

PEARL's current lineup is completed by Eric Bradley (THE YOUNG ROYALS, JERRY CANTRELL) on lead guitar, Eric Andrews (ROYAL FEVER, 286) on drums, and Dominique Davalos (THE GO-GO'S, THE BLUEBELLES) on bass.

As previously reported, Ian, Ted Nugent and ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell are among the guest musicians who appear on the new EP by PEARL. The track listing for the self-titled effort which was produced by Joe Barresi (TOOL, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, WEEZER, BAD RELIGION) is as follows:

01. Rock Child
02. Check Out Charlie
03. Mama
04. Nobody
05. Worth Defending
