ANTHRAX's CHARLIE BENANTE Hangs Out With LADY GAGA In Milwaukee

June 27, 2014

ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante hung out with pop superstar Lady Gaga earlier this week backstage at her Summerfest show in Milwaukee. The two have known each other for some time, and are mutual fans, as evidenced by the ANTHRAX t-shirt she wore, gifted to her by Charliea couple of years ago.

Benante leaves tomorrow to join ANTHRAX on the road in Europe to finish off the last couple weeks of their tour there. He's successfully completed the physical therapy for surgery he had on his right hand last summer. "I feel great," said Benante, "and I can't wait to get out on the road and play again."

Lady Gaga previously spoke about her love for IRON MAIDEN and BLACK SABBATH, calling the experience of seeing MAIDEN for the first time a "life-changing" event. The singer also appeared in photos with Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Alice Cooper.

Filling in for Benante on ANTHRAX's current European tour is Jon Dette, who has previously played with SLAYER, TESTAMENT and ICED EARTH).

Dette previously stepped in for Benante during ANTHRAX's appearance at the Soundwave festival in 2013.
