ANUBIS GATE Begins Recording New Album
August 9, 2010Danish melodic progressive power metal band ANUBIS GATE entered the studio this past Friday to begin recording its new album for a late 2010 release.
Commented vocalist/producer Jacob Hansen: "Morten [Sørensen] started off by laying down some of the heaviest and best drums I have ever heard him do, so I'm confident that the new album will have a pretty strong rhythm section! Furthermore, it was great to hear the new songs slowly come to life, which they always do when we track drums to the demo vocals, guitars and keys. It suddenly starts to make sense.
"The songs seem a bit darker to me, and I like that...
"For the gear freaks out there, we tracked drums on a Yamaha Maple Custom Definitive kit with 10, 12, 14 and 16" toms, 20" kick and Mapex Black Panther Maple snare. It sounded fantastic."
ANUBIS GATE's latest album, "The Detached", was honored in the "Best Danish Metal Production" category at the Danish Metal Awards 2009, which was held on January 16 at Amager Bio in Copenhagen, Denmark. The CD, which came out in February 2009 via Locomotive Records, features "12 amazing songs" based on a story by renowned game play writer Martin Rauff and set to lyrics by ANUBIS GATE's own Henrik Fevre," according to a press release. The album, like its predecessor ("Andromeda Unchained"),was produced by Jacob Hansen and Kim Olesen, and sees the band "further developing its unique style of progressive power metal with new twists and turns, but as always with the songwriting taking the high seat."
