APOCALYPTICA Performs Cover Of BLACK SABBATH's 'Paranoid' In Support Of Breast Cancer Research
October 11, 2012Finnish cello rockers APOCALYPTICA support breast cancer research in their home country by getting behind the Pink Ribbon campaign.
The Cancer Society Of Finland's Pink Ribbon campaign is aimed at supporting Finnish breast cancer research, and its symbol is a pink silk ribbon — familiar to many as the international symbol of the fight against breast cancer.
The message of the Pink Ribbon campaign is important, for breast cancer is the most common cancer found in Finnish women — almost 4,600 cases are diagnosed every year, and the disease touches not only patients, but also their families and friends.
Says the band: "To celebrate sales of 30,000 pink ribbons, we play 'Paranoid' (in Finland 'play 'Paranoid' is the slogan people shout on every show for every band). For this campaign, several known Finns have promised to do something unusual when the sales grow. Hope you'll have fun with this and please take part in your local Pink Ribbon campaigns all over the world!!!"
APOCALYPTICA's latest album, "7th Symphony", sold around 13,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 31 on The Billboard 200 chart. The majority of the album was produced by Joe Barresi (TOOL, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, BAD RELIGION),with two other songs produced by Howard Benson (MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, MOTÖRHEAD, PAPA ROACH).
