October 3, 2010

Kevin Imor, the 45-year-old guitar technician for the reactivated New Jersey thrashers WHIPLASH and the lead singer for the metal bands ARCH DEMON CHOIR (MySpace page),WITCHES OF MOODUS and SPLATTER PATTERN, died on September 25 a in an apparent drowning accident in the Moodus Reservoir, a lake in Middlesex County in the state of Connecticut.

Commented WHIPLASH guitarist/vocalist Tony Portaro: "Kevin was a large part of our lives. He toured the world with WHIPLASH as my guitar tech and was the lead vocalist in ARCH DEMON CHOIR, WITCHES OF MOODUS and SPLATTER PATTERN.

"I was lucky and honored to join him in the SPLATTER PATTERN video shoot two weeks ago. He was scheduled to split the vocals with me and return to my studio on Sunday to record my single, 'Thrashing Halloween'. On Saturday we were shocked to hear that he had passed in a drowning accident in a lake in Moodus, Connecticut.

"Our sincere condolences go out to his family, friends, band members and all whose lives he touched."

According to East Haddam Today, Imor had presumably entered the water to try to swim out to the island from the old cemetery located on the upper Moodus Reservoir, on East Haddam-Colchester Turnpike. He and his friends had come down to spend the day, as his parents previously had a cottage ("bungalow") in the area.
