ARCH ENEMY Cancel METALCAMP Festival Appearance, Announce 'Kerrang! Day Of Rock' Participation

July 20, 2006

Swedish/German extreme metallers ARCH ENEMY have posted the following message on their official web site:

"We very much regret that due to a personal family crisis for one of the band members, ARCH ENEMY will not be able to play at the Metalcamp festival n Slovenia as advertised on Friday, July 21st. We apologise to all the fans hoping to see us there, and we are very disappointed not to be able to come and play in your country. We are planning to tour Europe again in November/December this year and will do everything possible to find a suitable show to play in Slovenia.

"ARCH ENEMY will perform at the Earthshaker Fest in Germany as planned on Saturday, July 22nd."

In other news, ARCH ENEMY have announced that they will headline the annual "Kerrang! Day Of Rock" that takes place on August 10 in London, England. The event starts at 1:00 p.m. (with doors opening at 9:00 a.m.) and entry is free, but if you want to stay in the store to see ARCH ENEMY's performance at 9:00 p.m., you will have to be in possession of a special wristband. These will be given out on a first-come-first-serve basis from Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street on the morning of August 10. Other bands performing at this event are SIKTH, FIGHTSTAR, THE AUTOMATIC and BRING ME THE HORIZON.

ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott commented: "After the full on mayhem of playing to 40,000 metalheads at Download this year, we weren't expecting to be back in the U.K. again so soon... So it's really cool that we will be headlining the Kerrang! Day Of Rock next month. It'll be insane getting together with a few fans in such a small place but we are really looking forward to it and will dishing out some pure fucking metal ARCH ENEMY style! In fact, we're gonna turn it into the Kerrang! Day Of METAL!!"

ARCH ENEMY will release their first DVD, "Live Apocalypse", on August 8 via Century Media (July 24 in Europe). The disc is "chock-full of phenomenal live footage, in-depth interviews and promotional video clips," according to a press release.

ARCH ENEMY's recent Jagermeister-sponsored co-headlining bill with CHIMAIRA, GOD FORBID and HATE ETERNAL was their third U.S. run in support of their critically acclaimed new album, "Doomsday Machine". That CD debuted at No. 87 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and recently surpassed the 65,000 U.S. SoundScan plateau. The band also completed a new video for the track "My Apocalypse" with director Roger Johansson (IN FLAMES, DARK TRANQUILLITY, SOILWORK). Watch it online at this location (Windows Media).
