HALFORD guitarist Patrick Lachman has commented on the progress of the songwriting sessions for the group's sophomore full-length studio CD, which is expected to be recorded before the end of 2001. Accoding to Lachman, 'the writing sessions are underway. Rob [Halford], [guitarist] Mike Chlasciak and yours truly got together and began a solid week-long session not long ago. We locked ourselves in at a top-secret, high-security location where modern technology is used to construct only the highest grade metal. After seven days of inspiration, perspiration, and painstaking precision, ten new tracks were completed. Most of the new ideas began with individual riffs and songs from each of us and then we knocked heads to sort out a few changes in arrangement, key, melody, etc., wherever it was needed. The end result is some pretty powerful stuff. We will begin the next session this week. Our goal is nothing short of making the next record by the end of this year that is better that Resurrection. With the Metal God at the wheel, you can expect nothing less…'

Former FATES WARNING guitarist Frank Aresti has made four songs from his new industrial/electronic one-man project ARESTI available for download via the Farmclub web site. A far cry from the progressive rock sounds of his former band, ARESTI's musical direction is being described as NIN-inspired and much colder and darker than anything the guitarist had previously done. According to Aresti, 'I needed a form of music in which I could express myself completely, and with technology being what it is today, I am able to write, arrange, and record all parts and all instruments.

...

'I have always been into industrial [music],' Aresti revealed. 'Well, since the late '80s / early '90s. I was into MINISTRY, JESUS AND MARY CHAIN, SISTERS OF MERCY, later VOIVOD, and a Connecticut band called LIQUID CIRCUS. In writing [FATES WARNING's] Parallells, I think you could hear the vibe in my playing, even in the songs [FW guitarist] Jim [Matheos] wrote. If you listen to 'Life In Stillwater', you will hear what I'm talking about. It's obvious in that song. Even though Jim wrote it, we all took part in the arranging and in adding our own parts. I did get out of the industrial scene for a while until about a year ago when a friend of mine let me borrow NIN's The Fragile and it blew me away. At the same time, [Aresti's post-FW band] ALL THAT IS had seen better days so it all came together for me.'

...

The four ARESTI tracks that can be downloaded from this location are the following:

...

01. Blade

02. Smoothing The Way

03. Snap!

04. The Winding Ring
