VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen has confirmed that he is undergoing treatment for cancer. In a statement posted on the group's official web site, he writes, 'I'm sorry for having waited so long to address this issue personally. But, cancer can be a very unique and private matter to deal with. So, I think it's about time to tell you where I'm at.

'I was examined by three oncologists and three head & neck surgeons at Cedars Sinai [Medical Center in Los Angeles] just before spring break and I was told that I'm healthier than ever and beating cancer,' the statement continues. 'Although it's hard to say when, there's a good chance I will be cancer free in the near future. I just want to thank all of you for your concern and support.'

Meanwhile, former VAN HALEN lead singer David Lee Roth, who confirmed last week that he and his former bandmates had written three songs together last year, said in a statement, 'I was stunned this morning to learn Eddie Van Halen has cancer. My condolences. You can whip this, champ.'

KAMELOT's gig on Saturday June 2nd at the Boomerz Club in Seminole, Florida (Tampa Bay) will feature ROB ROCK and SECTOR 9 (featuring former CRIMSON GLORY vocalist Wade Black, CRIMSON GLORY guitarist Ben Jackson and touring drummer Jesse Martillio) as special guests.
THE CULT are scheduled to appear at the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan on August 18th and 19th (Osaka on the 18th and Tokyo on the 19th) alongside PRIMAL SCREAM, RADIOHEAD, ZEBRAHEAD, MXPX, LOW, BECK, RANCID, REEL BIG FISH, and WEEZER, with THE CULT reportedly set to perform on the second stage.
U.D.O., featuring former ACCEPT frontman Udo Dirkschneider, are currently in the middle of their Russian tour, where they are recording a double-live-CD entitled Live In Russia, tentatively scheduled to be issued on September 10th. The CD is expected to contain 25 songs, and its release will coincide with the release of a live video recorded on the same tour.
