March 8, 2001INTERNAL BLEEDING's fourth full-length album, Hatefuel, will be recorded in June of this year and released through Olympic Recordings around September/October. To tide the band's fans over until then, Olympic Recordings will be issuing a CD containing INTERNAL BLEEDING's Invocation of Evil and Perpetual Degradation demos, as well as a few songs from the band's 1991 One Dollar Demo. And as a bonus, the group will be recording a brand-new song, 'Alien Breed', for inclusion on the CD. The as-yet-untitled collection will include a 12-page booklet with a plethora of nostalgic photos, and it is tentatively scheduled for release during July.
There's been an awful lot said about METALLICA recently, what with Jason leaving the band, Napster and now the Playboy interview. The band has been in the news like never before, and they don't feel that it is 'the truth, the whole truth or nothing but the truth' which has appeared in the news lately. Because of this, METALLICA has done a long and informative interview with So What magazine, the official METALLICA Fan Club mag. According to the fan club members-only pages on the group's official web site, there will be an exclusive roundtable interview where they will tell the fans about above-mentioned cases, the new album, the future and everything else a fan could think of.
'There's so much action going on in there that it's unfortunate that the biggest statement after Jason leaving is the Playboy interview. So I'm glad that people are actually gonna get to read what we have to say,' James Hetfield told the club. 'I agree,' said Lars Ulrich, 'The fact that they have stuck with us through all this has been awesome.' 'And they'll be rewarded for their patience,' concluded Kirk Hammett, 'because when we get back into the studio, I guarantee that the music will be something else.'
An update from vocalist Glenn Hughes about his previously-announced US tour:
...
[March 7, 2001] 'Hello everyone, I have been very busy and I know you are patiently waiting for news from me, so here it is! As regards the shows I am to do in the USA, I will tell you now that I am confirming the shows in New Jersey, Virginia and New York. At this time I do not have tour support from my record label, but I want to play, and I will do these shows with or without their help.
If they do not get me support for the remaining shows, I will be forced to cancel them. At this time, I would advise my fans in the cities of Chicago, Attleboro and Ft. Lauderdale to abstain from buying tickets. As much as I love to play, and as much as I love to see my fans, I am not able to financially fund a whole tour by myself.
As you can imagine, this causes me much distress, but I feel confident that you, my true fans, will understand the constraints I am under. I look forward to meeting all the fans that are sticking by me and buying tickets to these three shows. The shows and my fans are very important to me. Joining me on stage will be: George Nastos on guitar and Brian Tichy on drums. For those who are familiar with Brian, his most recent tour was with Ozzy on Ozzfest 2000. He has played with Stevie Salas, Zakk Wylde and Slash. He is a monster drummer, and I am really looking forward to having him on board. I chose George because it would appear to me that you want a little funk, so I am going to bring it to you. Once again, I thank those of you who for months, not to mention years, have stood by me. I will see you at the meet 'n' greet at the gigs. /Glenn'

In light of the above announcement, the folowing three shows should be viewed as the only officially confirmed dates so far:

March 22 - The Birch Hill, Old Bridge, NJ
March 23 - Jaxx, Springfield, VA
March 24 - The Voodoo Lounge, Queens, NY
NARNIA guitarist CarlJohan Grimmark is heading for the US of America (from his native Sweden) during the second half of March to work with the gothic band SAVIOUR MACHINE. He will be doing some guitar parts on the latter band's long-awaited Legend III album. In other NARNIA news, vocalist Christian Liljegren's solo project WISDOM CALL will release its debut CD in the late spring.
Ex-IMPELLITERRI / AXEL RUDI PELL vocalist ROB ROCK is touring Europe this month in support of his Rage Of Creation CD as the opening act for AXEL RUDI PELL. Rob's touring band musicians include Rick Renstrom on guitar, Stephen Elder on bass and vocals, Tracy Shell on drums, and Hank Coffey on guitar.
THE HELLACOPTERS have been confirmed for this year's Roskilde Festival, taking place June 28-July 1 in Roskilde, Denmark. Also booked to perform are GUNS N' ROSES and TOOL.
DRAGONLORD, the gothic/classically-influenced project that will showcase most of the current TESTAMENT line-up (minus vocalist Chuck),will also feature an appearance by Lyle Livingston on keyboards. Guitarist/mainman Eric Peterson states that the band will include '...strings, a choir, harpsichords, and lots of screaming and hair pulling.' Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, DARKANE, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD) will be behind the mixing board.
THEATRE OF TRAGEDY's US tour, which was planned for April, has been cancelled. According to the band's official web site, 'the reason for this is that we have come up short of both time and money we are pressed for time when it comes to making the new record, and the sufficient funds we need to mount the tour at present simply are not available. However, we like to think of the tour as being delayed, not cancelled, and that efforts will be made to organize a new tour at some point in the foreseeable future. And to end all speculations before they even begin yes, this would have been a non-profit tour. This will still be the case when the tour eventually happens, so lack of profits is not the reason for cancelling. We're sorry if we got your hopes up, but we'll make it up to you.'
Sweden's THE HAUNTED wish to apologize to their Polish fans for the cancellation of the Katowice show at the very end of their recent European tour with NILE. 'Due to reasons beyond our control, the tour had to be cut short one day early. We will try to redeem this as soon as possible and make it up to our fans that missed us then and there!!!' stated THE HAUNTED guitarist Jensen. THE HAUNTED have now been added to the line-up for the Decibel 2001 metal festival, taking place on May 19th in Bengtsfors, Sweden. Other participating artists include DISMEMBER, JOHN NORUM, NOCTURNAL RITES, THERION, TIAMAT, MELDRUM, TAD MOROSE, MEMORY GARDEN and TRANSPORT LEAGUE.
THE CULT's still-untitled new disc, produced by Bob Rock and due out June 5th, will be preceded by an as-yet-undetermined single on May 1, according to a recent MTV News story. The album will be the group's first since re-forming in 1999. Although the upcoming CD will feature session musician Chris Wyse on bass, THE CULT will be rejoined by former PORNO FOR PYROS bassist Martyn LeNoble when they appear at the South by Southwest music conference in Austin, Texas, later this month and at a short series of Southern music festivals in May. The band plans to launch a proper tour probably in August, but these will apparently not include any dates with AEROSMITH, as previously rumored.

Meanwhile, drummer Matt Sorum is working on a solo album called Hollywood Zen. Sorum, who returned to THE CULT after a stint with GUNS N' ROSES, said he's completed the basic tracks and expects to release the record in the fall. 'The album is about my ups and downs in Hollywood,' Sorum told MTV News. 'It's very different from THE CULT. Think Bowie meets Iggy meets Lou Reed.' Sorum will be up front for the project, singing and playing guitar, and he intends to support the album with a fall solo tour.
