On Thursday, March 15th, IRON MAIDEN vocalist Bruce Dickinson, plus guitarists Janick Gers and Adrian Smith (along with a brief appearance by Eddie) were at the Production Show at Olympia in London to shave the heads of six volunteers for a charity head shave. The event was to raise much needed money for The Iain Rennie Hospice, which is a service supplied by nurses who treat people suffering from terminal illnesses at home.

In other MAIDEN news, the auction of the guitar presented by MAIDEN to Jimmy Page in Rio closed last week with the highest bid raising nearly $4,000 for the TASK Brazil charity. The money is entirely used for helping impoverished and homeless children on the streets of Brazil, and is a charity which the band have often helped in the past.

JUDAS PRIEST have confirmed SAVATAGE as the opening act on the first leg of the band's European/UK tour. Meanwhile, guitarist Glenn Tipton posted this latest update on the group's activities on JUDAS PRIEST's official web site: 'As you know, the first segment of the tour has been announced, and we are now putting together the American dates and second leg of Europe, after which we will cross to South America and Japan, and then work on dates for the rest of the world! We're all excited about getting back on the road where PRIEST belong, playing old and new songs, and some tracks off the new album, which we are in the process of mixing. It's going to be difficult to finally decide what songs go in the 2001 set, as there are so many of our favorites and everyone's favorites, but we know that whatever we play, we'll give 200%!!! We can't wait to get on the road again, so hang in there and we'll see you all soon! Regards, GLENN TIPTON'
