March 16, 2001SATANIC SLAUGHTER have been confirmed for the Dist 2001 Festival, taking place July 20th and July 21st in Sweden. The band will also be performing at the Party.San Open Air Festival, which is scheduled to take place August 9-11 in Germany.

The total running time of the CD will be around 78 minutes, the maximum amount you can put on a CD. According to the band's official web site, the music on the new album be 'more spacey and exotic, and a bit more psychedelic. The Hammond organ and the clavinet are introduced here, and this time (bassist/vocalist) Mirai has written all the lyrics.'
VANIZE guitarist Rolf Munkes is working on his second solo effort, which will once again feature the lead vocals of BALANCE OF POWER singer Lance King. Two tracks will also reportedly be sung by former YNGWIE MALMSTEEN vocalist Mark Boals.

FANTOMAS, featuring former FAITH NO MORE vocalist Mike Patton, MR. BUNGLE bassist Trevor Dunn, MELVINS guitarist Buzz Osbourne and GRIP INC. / ex-SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo, will be issuing The Directors Cut, a CD collection featuring 15 cover versions of soundtrack songs (among them 'The Godfather', 'Flashdance-What A Feeling', and 'Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me'),in June/July through Ipecac Records.
Metal Blade recording artists 40 GRIT have replaced drummer Mike Bennett with Andy Green, formerly of the South San Francisco Bay act REFUSE.
The Austrian 'gothic-dark metal' outfit EVENFALL are finishing up the recording of their second album, Cumbersome, which reportedly sees the band 'leaving their black metal roots and developing a more catchy and bombastic style'. Cumbersome will include a cover version of the HEROES DEL SILENCIO hit 'Entre Dos Tierras', featuring ex-PSYCHOTIC WALTZ frontman Devon Graves (aka Buddy Lackey) on lead vocals. The album will be released in late May.
DEFTONES vocalist Chino Moreno will be contributing lead vocals to a song from an upcoming CD from Scottish quartet MOGWAI. The album, entitled Rock Action, is scheduled for an April 24 release.
Buffalo quintet SNAPCASE will be replacing ORGY on the upcoming PAPA ROACHRaid The Nation tour after ORGY guitarist Amir Derakh was diagnosed with mononucleosis, thus forcing the band to pull out of the package tour. SNAPCASE will join the jaunt as the second act beginning April 1 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, though the tour itself kicks off March 18 in Pensacola.

SNAPCASE's forthcoming studio album is tentatively scheduled for a fall release. In the meantime, Victory Records will be issuing an as-yet-untitled rarities compilation, featuring revisited early demos and album outtake, on June 5th. In other SNAPCASE news, singer Daryl Tabreski will marry his longtime girlfriend in late spring.
