CONTROL DENIED's sophomore effort, tentatively titled When Machine And Man Collide, has had its release date pushed back until sometime after the summer, according to the group's record label Hammerheart Records. No specific reason was given for the delay, but one can only speculate that the hectic schedule of&nbsp bassist Steve DiGiorgio (who is keeping himself busy with both TESTAMENT and ICED EARTH when not playing with Chuck Schuldiner and co.) might have been a factor. Either way, the remaining guitar tracks for the are going to be recorded next month, while “exact scheduling for Steve's sessions is still being worked out”. The CD's artwork is being done by the immensely talented Travis Smith, who also co-designed the artwork for CONTROL DENIED's debut CD, The Fragile Art of Existence.

After a brief interruption to accommodate the band's recent Peacefest appearances, MY DYING BRIDE have returned home and begun writing the follow-up to 1999's The Light At the End Of The World album. If all goes well, the band is expecting to start recording the as-yet-untitled effort in June, and are aiming for an album release in early October. Attendees at the aforementioned Peacefest gigs were provided with a taste of what the new album will be like when MY DYING BRIDE played one new song in their set, titled 'A Cruel Taste of Winter'.

...

In other MY DYING BRIDE news, the release of the second part of the Meisterwerk compilation has been scheduled for June as well. Two more rare demo tracks as well as the song 'Follower' (which was until now only released as a bonus track on Japanese editions of 34.788%...) will be included on this release.

Portugal's MOONSPELL have announced that their forthcoming Darkness And Hope release will feature a special appearance by Adolfo Luxúria Canibal, the illustrous singer/storyteller from Portuguese cult band MÃO MORTA. Adolfo will apparently be narrating a quote from “Portuguese master of surrealistic poetry” Mário Cesariny that MOONSPELL will be incorporating, in their native language, into a new song entitled “Than The Serpents In My Arms”. Darkness And Hope is also set to include MOONSPELL's version of the track “Os Senhores da Guerra” (“the war lords”),which was originally written and recorded by MADREDEUS, “the most significant band of ethnic/world music hailing from Portugal and the most international Portuguese ensemble ever in the Portuguese musical history”.

Freshly out of the studio, Sweden's THE PROJECT HATE MCMXCIX (featuring ENTOMBED bassist Jorgen Sandstrom) are “incredibly satisfied” with their just-completed second album, When We Are Done...Your Flesh Will Be Ours, which “[lived up to] all of our expectations and more so”. Tentatively due for release in May/June, the album packaging will reportedly include a booklet designed by graphic artist Leif Ericsson that is so gruesome and beautiful, “it [perfectly] completes this new masterpiece”. Ten tracks and nearly 60 minutes of music will appear on the CD, featuring a style that the group describe as “the same [one] we previously dominated the world with” on last year's debut Cybersonic Superchrist. Recorded at the Soundlab Studios in Örebro, Sweden with producer Mr. Talarzcyk (i.e. NASUM),the CD is said to boast a sound that is “as fat as it can get”.

Veteran producer Kevin Shirley (i.e. DREAM THEATER, IRON MAIDEN, etc.) is currently mixing down IRON MAIDEN's forthcoming live DVD, recorded at the group's appearance at the Rock In Rio festival in January. If Shirley's account is to be believed, the notoriously hard-to-please IRON MAIDEN mainman/bassist Steve Harris is “thrilled with the stereo mixes” that Kevin has completed thus far, and if all goes well, the project should be completed by March 29th. Shirley's forthcoming production gigs include a session next week in Helsinki with BLABBERMOUTH.NET faves H.I.M. on an unspecified track, followed by mixing work with Australia's COLD CHISEL.
