ARSIS: 'We Are The Nightmare' Artwork Revealed
February 13, 2008Fresh off the stage in Louisville, Kentucky, ARSIS guitarist and vocalist Jim Malone has this to share about the cover artwork for the band's Nuclear Blast Records debut, "We Are The Nightmare", slated for release in North America on April 15: "I didn't have a working relationship with the Riddick brothers before 2004. I was introduced to them by our first label, Willowtip. When Mark and Mike presented us with our new band logo, we were like, 'Sweeeeet!' I wanted to keep working with them because of their detail and their pen-and-ink approach, not because they're obsessed with corpses and maggots. As far as the new album's artwork, they matched what 'We Are The Nightmare' is about in the sense that my lyrics and music are always very dark, much like their art is. There's something very striking and unique about their drawings, which explains why I own Mark's Killustrations art book and why we chose to use their artwork on our merch.
Produced by Zeuss (AGNOSTIC FRONT, HATEBREED, MUNICIPAL WASTE) at Planet Z Studios in Massachusetts and mastered by Alan Douches (KATAKLYSM, UNEARTH, SHADOWS FALL),"We Are The Nightmare" will feature the following track listing:
01. We Are The Nightmare
02. Shattering The Spell
03. Sightless Wisdom
04. Servants To The Night
05. Failing Winds Of Hopeless Greed
06. Overthrown
07. Progressive Entrapment
08. A Feast For The Liar's Tongue
09. My Oath To Madness
10. Failure's Conquest
"We Are The Nightmare" will be released with a bonus 45-minute DVD that includes the band's time in the studio, off-stage antics, and some general goofing around. Malone adds: "I can honestly say that this was the best recording experience that I have had in my years with ARSIS. Not only was Zeuss great to work with, but Ryan (Knight, guitarist),Darren (Cesca, drummer),and Noah (Martin, bassist) all did an outstanding job. We all worked together to create what I feel is the most accomplished ARSIS album to date. I can still listen to the songs, and that's a good sign."
ARSIS is currently on tour with labelmates EXODUS and just announced its headlining tour with SKELETONWITCH and VEIL OF MAYA.
