ARTIZAN Taps Guitarist TONY SMOTHERMAN For Debut Album

November 2, 2010

U.S. melodic power metallers ARTIZAN have tapped "world-class shredder" Tony Smotherman to lay down the guitar solos on the band's forthcoming full-length debut.

Commented ARTIZAN founder/drummer Ty Tammeus: "Tony constructed some very intense, melodic solos that take our material to another level. He can shred and apply the musicality that we need."

Video footage of Smotherman in the studio with ARTIZAN can be viewed below.

Smotherman recently signed with Steve Vai's Favored Nations label.

ARTIZAN is recording its first CD with legendary producer Jim Morris (ICED EARTH, DEATH, CANNIBAL CORPSE, JAG PANZER). The cover artwork is being created by fantasy artist Marc Sasso. An early 2011 release via Germany's Pure Steel Records is expected.

ARTIZAN, hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, was formed by original members of the acclaimed Century Media recording artist LEVIATHAN, and released its self-titled debut EP in late 2009. With a strong resemblance to such great bands as IRON MAIDEN, QUEENSRŸCHE, FATES WARNING and CRIMSON GLORY, ARTIZAN is undoubtedly one of the best exponents of what classic heavy metal is all about.

ARTIZAN is:

Tom Braden - Vocals
Ty Tammeus - Drums
Shamus McConney - Rhythm Guitar
Hermanus J. Rombouts - Rhythm & Lead Guitar
Jonathan Jennings Jr. - Bass
