ASHES OF ARES Forced To Pull Out Of 'Rock Harvest' Benefit Concert
November 8, 2012ASHES OF ARES, the new project featuring former ICED EARTH members Matt Barlow (vocals) and Freddie Vidales (bass, guitar),along with ex-NEVERMORE drummer Van Williams, has canceled its previously announced acoustic performance at the Rock Harvest benefit event, set to take place on Saturday, November 10 at the Recher Theatre in Towson, Maryland.
Commented Barlow: "I have been dealing with illness for the past week and it has not let up.
"I apologize to anyone who has planned to come to the show to see us, but I don't think that it would do anybody justice to have me croaking through our set.
"I hope that you guys can forgive me for this decision, but I promise to make it up to all of you soon.
"Thank you for your understanding."
Joining Matt and Freddie for the live gig were supposed to be Gio Geraca on bass and Dean Sternberg on guitar.
Van previously announced that he was unable to make this show due to prior commitments.
Gio is the current guitarist/bassist for MALEVOLENT CREATION and also vocalist/guitarist for THE EVIL AMIDST.
Dean, in addition to being an accomplished guitarist, has also handled vocal duties for PURE SWEET HELL and INTO ETERNITY.
Rock Harvest is a benefit show for FallenBlue.org, which helps the families of fallen police officers who are killed outside the line of duty.
In its first year, Rock Harvest has assembled an incredible mix of music from the rock and hard rock genres, as well as the hair, progressive, thrash, and power metal scene. The artists performing have graced some of the largest stages in the world, include the Download, M3 Rock and Rocklahoma festivals.
While the music is going, there will also be an incredible silent auction going on, which will include autographed posters from Henry Rollins, INCUBUS and SHINEDOWN, framed autographed album from Ted Nugent, an autographed Dunlop pedal from Zakk Wylde, and numerous other items.
