May 18, 2014Wes Styles of the Albany rock station Q103 conducted an interview with WEAREHARLOT, the band fronted by ASKING ALEXANDRIA's Danny Worsnop, at the Rock On The Range festival, which is being held May 16-18 at the Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. You can now watch the chat below.
A free download of WEAREHARLOT's song "Denial" is available on the the band's web site.
WEAREHARLOT — whose linup is completed by guitarist Jeff George, bassist Brian Weaver and drummer Bruno Agra — recently finished recording its debut album, due later in the year via Roadrunner Records.
On signing to Roadrunner, WEAREHARLOT said in a statement: "We are beyond excited to be a part the Roadrunner Records family of artists.
"It's been a long road getting here, but nothing was going to or ever will detour this band, and Roadrunner has been there championing us from the beginning.
"When it came time to sign a deal, all the labels came calling, but only one got the call back.
"Roadrunner Records' foundations were built on great rock 'n' roll bands, bands that we love, and we are here to continue carrying that torch and shaking those foundations.
"We knew that rock music needed a face-lift fast and that real rock 'n' roll needed to be back front and center again! That's why we're here, to bring this music to a whole new generation of people that have been screaming out for what they deserve.
"Team WEAREHARLOT is in place and it's unstoppable!"
WEAREHARLOT was formed after Worsnop met George at a New Year's Eve party at the end of 2012 and decided to work together.
"We were living 20 or 30 minutes apart in Los Angeles, and he just moved in with me in January, and we started working on music pretty much every day from that point on," Danny told Kerrang! magazine. "The three of us [Danny, Jeff and Bruno] wrote and recorded and ended up with 100-plus songs.
"I said, 'Look, I want this to be a proper band — I don't want this to be THE DANNY WORSNOP BAND.' So we just started brainstorming names and went from there. Brian, of the band SILVERTIDE, was one of, I think, about 300 appplicants who eventually got the job [as the WEAREHARLOT bassist]."
According to Danny, when he first started talking about WEAREHARLOT in interviews, it did initially cause some friction within his main band.
"Back when it started, there were maybe concerns and stress and bitterness from the guys," Danny told Kerrang! "But over time they've realized that it's not detrimental to ASKING in any way. Everyone's calmed down, everyone's friends, and we'll hang out and drink and get stupid."
He added: "Both bands are getting my equal attention. Both bands are getting 100 percent of my efforts when I'm with them. In terms of physical time on the road and stuff, it's gonna be right down the middle. ASKING ALEXANDRIA always pretty much tours a set amount anyway, so it's not going to take anything away from that, and then the other half of my year is filled with the HARLOT shenanigans."
