AUDIOSLAVE Guitarist OK With CHRIS CORNELL Solo Album
August 22, 2006Launch Radio Networks reports: AUDIOSLAVE guitarist Tom Morello says that he's not bothered by singer Chris Cornell announcing plans to make a solo album right before the September release of the band's third effort, "Revelations". In fact, Morello told Launch that he's played in rock bands long enough to expect just about anything. "Any band worth its salt has a healthy dose of dysfunction and craziness going on all the time," he said. "AUDIOSLAVE is no exception to that rule. If Chris wants to do solo stuff, fantastic. You know, I've been performing solo stuff as the NIGHTWATCHMAN and doing the political folk songs and enjoying that tremendously, and will continue to do that. We're grown as people and people can do what they want. But I still look forward to a lot more AUDIOSLAVE coming."
AUDIOSLAVE will release "Revelations" on September 5, but the band isn't expected to tour until 2007.
Cornell recently announced that he plans to record his second solo album at the end of this summer, with a release scheduled for next year. In addition, Cornell has also recorded "You Know My Name" for the upcoming James Bond movie "Casino Royale", as well as a song for the independent film "Bug".
Morello has been performing solo acoustic shows as the NIGHTWATCHMAN for several years, often appearing at coffee houses and political events.
