June 24, 2006AUDIOSLAVE ("Revelations") and THE PANIC CHANNEL ("Teahouse of the Spirits") are among the acts contributing new music to the in-game soundtrack of the video game "Madden NFL 2007", due on August 22 via Electronic Arts.
To promote the new game, THE PANIC CHANNEL — the new band featuring three quarters of the most recent lineup of JANE'S ADDICTION (guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Chris Chaney) and former SKYCYCLE vocalist Steve Isaacs — will kick off a week-long concert series on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" August 21, according to Billboard.com.
"The past four years have seen a number of breakthroughs for new bands featured on 'Madden'," EA worldwide executive of music and music marketing Steve Schnur told Billboard.com. "With more than 51 million 'Madden' games sold worldwide to date, that's a lot of exposure for a lot of artists."
Also in the works is a first-ever MTV special on the "Music in Madden" phenomenon that will air close to the game debut. Schnur noted, "It will focus on how we choose the bands and the post-game effect on their careers."
