Author Of First And Only Unauthorized Biography Of METALLICA's JAMES HETFIELD: How I Made The Book Happen

February 8, 2017

Kaytie of the 97.7 WQLZ radio station in Springfield, Illinois recently conducted an interview with Mark Eglinton, author of "So Let It Be Written", the first and only unauthorized biography of METALLICA frontman James Hetfield. You can now listen to the chat using the SoundCloud widget below.

Due on April 11 via Lesser Gods, "So Let It Be Written" does justice to the many hats Hetfield has worn, with his strong leadership, signature vocal style, powerful guitar playing and masterful songwriting. Eglinton uses exclusive, firsthand interviews — with prominent rock stars and key figures in Hetfield's life — to construct the definitive account of Hetfield.

Regarding how the idea came about to write Hetfield's biography, Eglinton told 97.7 WQLZ: "I've been a heavy metal fan all my life, a METALLICA fan all my life. And then four or five years ago, somebody presented the idea to me to maybe do this. I was amazed myself that no book about him existed. So I just decided, 'How can it be done?' 'Who could I speak to that would make it interesting?' I've got some good contacts in the business. And I just went around getting hold of people, getting interviews, and made it happen that way. It's as simple as that."

TESTAMENT singer Chuck Billy, who wrote the book's foreword, said: "Hopefully this book will rekindle certain special memories about one of metal's most charismatic and important individuals."

Eglinton is an author, journalist and film producer currently based in Edinburgh, Scotland who co-authored former PANTERA/DOWN and current KILL DEVIL HILL bassist Rex Brown's memoir, "Official Truth, 101 Proof: The Inside Story Of Pantera", and whose first book, titled "James Hetfield: The Wolf At Metallica's Door", was published in April 2010.
