AVENGED SEVENFOLD: Writing Next Album Will Be A 'Very Different Process' Without THE REV

May 27, 2011

Radio host and writer Anne Erickson from WWBN Banana 101.5 radio station in Flint, Michigan conducted an interview with bassist Johnny Christ of Orange County, California's AVENGED SEVENFOLD at last weekend's Rock On The Range festival in Columbus, Ohio. You can watch the chat below.

Johnny on AVENGED's new single, "So Far Away", which explores the band's softer side: "We always like to have a couple of softer songs on the album give you a journey as your listening to the record all the way through. That was one that Synyster Gates [guitar] wrote the lyrics to. It's his first time writing lyrics. It's a tribute and basically saying goodbye to our brother that we lost: [late AVENGED drummer] The Rev."

When asked about a possible new album for AVENGED SEVENFOLD, Johnny replied, "Right now, we're just gonna tour. We have a lot more touring to do. We gotta get out to Europe. We're gonna be going around the world. Wherever there are AVENGED SEVENFOLD fans, we're gonna try and play for them. After that, we'll probably go in and try to write a new record, and we'll see how that goes becauseit's gonna be a very different process without having Jimmy around."
