AVENGER Changes Name, Announces New Members

February 27, 2007

The Newcastle, U.K.-based NWOBHM band formerly performing as AVENGER has changed its name to AVENGER UK. "This is due to confusion over the number of the several other European 'AVENGERs' and also because of conflict over the band’s name with former bass player Mick Moore," the group writes in a statement.

In other news, AVENGER UK has announced the addition of bassist Huw Holding (ORDER OF THE BLACK SUN) and guitarist Sean Jeffries (FROM THE ASHES, FALLEN SKIES) to the group's ranks.

The current AVENGER UK lineup is:

Ian Swift: Lead Vocals
Gary Young: Drums
Liam Thompson: Guitar and Backing Vocals
Sean Jeffries: Guitar
Huw Holding: Bass Guitar

Tour dates will be announced very shortly for summer 2007 to coincide with AVENGER UK's appearance at the Headbangers Open Air festival in Elshorm, Germany on July 13.
