AVIDOST Recording Debut Album With Veteran Producer NEIL KERNON
March 26, 2004Veteran producer Neil Kernon (NEVERMORE, CANNIBAL CORPSE, DEICIDE, QUEENSRŸCHE) is currently working with an unsigned, female-fronted band called AVIDOST.
Based out of Chicago, Illinois, the five-piece group "has a lot of different flavors to their music, from black metal, to progressive metal to well — lots of their own styles too," according to Kernon.
Consisting of Jen Gore (vocals),Michael Kosciuk (guitars),Steve Spacucello (guitars),Adam Schifler (bass guitar),and Matt "Xaphar" Block (drums),AVIDOST are currently working on their debut album, entitled "Of Greatness Or Madness". Recording is taking place at Engine Music Studios in Chicago, Illinois.
"We just finished the rhythm guitars, and they came out totally killer, as did the drums, and will finish up a lot more instrumental tracking next weekend, and possibly some vocals too," Kernon told BLABBERMOUTH.NET.
AVIDOST had previously released a four-song demo in 2001, entitled "A Silent Masquerade". According to the group, the demo "appealed to fans of progressive metal — perhaps because of the five-to-seven-minute song lengths, the instrumental sections containing well-written guitar leads, or the occasional forays into unusual time signatures. The slow riffage and dark emotions appealed to doom fans, and the band was welcomed into the genre of female-fronted metal. Since then, AVIDOST has attempted to take the best elements of its demo material and further develop them. Fans of the title track 'A Silent Masquerade' will find the new music most agreeable."
