BACKYARD BURIAL Singer Murdered

February 16, 2011

Stuff.co.nz reports that the lead singer of one of New Zealand's longest-running death metal bands, BACKYARD BURIAL, was murdered earlier this week.

Matthew John Hall, 35, who went by the stage name "Blaps Warmonger", was found dead with multiple stab wounds by his roommate at his Wellington apartment on Tuesday.

According to the police, a scene examination will continue today and is expected to take some time.

"We are now looking for the person or persons responsible for Mr. Hall's death and are making steady progress with our enquiries to date, but it is still very early stages in the investigation," the officer in charge of the investigation into Hall's death, Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thornton, told Stuff.co.nz.

BACKYARD BURIAL released its debut album, titled "Symptoms Of Psychopathology", in 1999.
