Benefit Concert To Help Pay For Funeral Expenses For FALLING TO PIECES Singer

November 9, 2010

A benefit concert to raise money to help pay for funeral expenses for Nicci DeSoto (a.k.a. Nicci Acevedo) — the 25-year-old lead vocalist of the Livermore, California thrash/metalcore act FALLING TO PIECES who was killed this past weekend in a motorcycle accident — will be held on Friday, November 12 at the Pine Street Bar and Grill in Livermore, California. Scheduled to perform at the event are LD/50 (featuring Glen Alvelais [TESTAMENT, FORBIDDEN] on guitar, Clark Brown [GEEZER] on vocals, Terry Goss [SCORCHED-EARTH POLICY] on bass, and Tony Providence [A BAND CALLED PAIN] on drums),THE VENTING MACHINE, SEVERED FIFTH, LEFT OF CHRIST and DISSIPATE.

Commented LD/50's Glen Alvelais: "I'd seen Nicci perform three times and each time I was blown away. I've played with some very heavy-hitting singers and honestly, Nicci blew me away. The band FALLING TO PIECES rehearse at the same studios that LD/50 does and I have been waiting for the opportunity to meet her in person and be able to tell her face to face how fricken awesome I think she was and that the shows blew me away.

"It's an honor to be asked to play this benefit as the proceeds will go to the DeSoto family. Anything that we can do to make a difference.

"My prayers go out to Nicci's family and to the guys in FALLING TO PIECES."

Nicci DeSoto, who was reportedly a member of the local women's motorcycle club "Devil Dolls", was killed on November 6 when she lost control of her motorcycle and was hit by a car on H-4 east of Concord.

If you wish to make a donation, please make checks payable to Loni DeSoto and mail to:

FALLING TO PIECES features in its ranks Scott Danough, co-founder and longtime guitarist for Orange County, California's BLEEDING THROUGH. The quintet independently released an EP in 2009 entitled "Awaken The Weak".

According to the band's official bio, "Awaken the Weak" "combines Nicci's wicked screams and beautiful clean singing (both of which can compete with any of today’s leading ladies of metal) with the band's unique blend of thrash-oriented, melodic, and brutally groove-driven songwriting. With tracks like 'Population One' and 'A Beautiful Demise', the music of FALLING TO PIECES appeals to metal fans of any genre, as well as maintaining the ability to capture non-metal fans alike."
