BILLY MORRISON: 'I Am Not In JANE'S ADDICTION'
August 29, 2002Former THE CULT bassist Billy Morrison has denied rumors that he has joined JANE'S ADDICTION as the group's new touring bassist and has vowed to focus all his time and energy on launching a brand new project with PITCHSHIFTER frontman J.S. Clayden, tentatively dubbed DOHENY.
The rumors of Morrison joining JANE'S began circulating after a message on the bassist's web site from someone claiming to be him "revealed" plans for Billy to join Perry Farrell and co. as the group's new four-stringer.
"I had to go against my instincts yesterday, and remove a post from this board which was written by someone claiming to me, saying that I had joined JANE'S ADDICTION as the new bass player," stated Morrison. "I have always believed that a message board is freedom of speech, and that ALL posts should be kept. But I can't have that kind of info spreading rumors. So whoever is posting as me...don't bother, I'll just delete them.
"I am NOT in JANE'S, nor will I be doing THE CULT shows (they are back to Scott and Craig, I believe). I am 100% working on getting the new project with [J.S. Clayden] (tentatively called DOHENY) signed by the end of the year, so that next year will be the start of the next chapter for me…We have nearly finished writing and have a good bulk of material, so now the tough part begins… entering dialogue with the industry."
