BLACK FLAG Reunion Not So United

August 21, 2003

Ex-BLACK FLAG singer Keith Morris has released a statement dismissing earlier reports by the band's founder Greg Ginn that he and other members of early incarnations of the group will be performing at BLACK FLAG's Sept. 12 "reunion" show at the Hollywood Palladium.

BLACK FLAG's first four singers — Morris, Ron Reyes (a.k.a. Chavo),Robo and Dez Cadena — were supposed to be on the bill, but only Cadena has made a firm commitment to perform at the gig, according to Morris.

"[I] was told that my presence or services were not necessary!" Morris said. "At the very beginning of what's turned into a complete mess I made a commitment to do the shows based on the word of one of the main players that Ron Reyes (Chavo),Roberto Valverde (Robo),Dez Cadena and Chuck Dukowski (The Duke) were all going to be a part of this and as of last week Dez is doing it for sure and Robo might show up. I've apparently been spreading vicious and damaging rumors and the story gets even more stupid the further we get into it. The bummer is that a large amount of people have already purchased tickets based on the fact that these shows have been advertised as 'The First Four Years,' but if there is no appearance of Ron Reyes, Chuck Dukowski or myself, I guess that would make it the last year of the first four or some silly stupid such thing."

All proceeds from BLACK FLAG's upcoming "reunion" show will reportedly benefit cat rescue programs. There is no nationwide BLACK FLAG tour planned at this time.
