BLACK SABBATH, SLIPKNOT and Lemmy (MOTÖRHEAD) were honored Monday night (June 13) at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards ceremony. The trophies, which feature a skull, a snake, a cloak, and a bony hand making the metal sign, were handed out at the London Astoria.

Over 1,000 metal fans plus over 500 of the world's rock elite gathered together in a heaving, sweaty mess to celebrate the best music and best bands in heavy metal. There were excellent live performances from TRIVIUM, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, SHADOWS FALL, NIGHTWISH and ANTHRAX, plus the presenting of 14 awards to the most deserved metal winners — as voted for by the readers of Metal Hammer magazine.

Winners on the night were:

Best Live Band: SLIPKNOT
Best International Band: THE USED
Best Underground Band: MESHUGGAH/MASTODON
Best Metal Record Label: Roadrunner
Incoming Award For Best Newcomer: NIGHTWISH
