BLACK TIDE To Release New Digital Single
September 3, 2010Miami, Florida's BLACK TIDE will release a digital single on September 21 containing two new tracks, "Honest Eyes" and "Bury Me".
BLACK TIDE made an impact on the music scene in 2008 with its Interscope Records debut, "Light From Above". Now the Florida-based quartet is at Spin Studios in New York recording the follow-up effort with producers Garth "GGGarth" Richardson (RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, MUDVAYNE) and Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD, AVENGED SEVENFOLD). The as-yet-untitled CD will be released in early 2011.
The second and third in a series of video clips documenting the recording process for the new album can be viewed below. The first clip has drummer Steven Spence tracking drums live in the studio and showing off his "stickless" drumming technique. The second clip features guitarist Austin Diaz getting tattooed in the studio and also has snippets of the new song "Honest Eyes".
In a recent interview with Mega Metal Magazine, BLACK TIDE bassist Zakk Sandler stated about the group's new material, "I think it's got a bunch of elements from the last record. I think it's obvious that we've grown as players, and as writers, in pretty much every way we can. There's definitely a different sense of direction with this. In some way's it's a lot heavier, and at the same time it's a lot more melodic, and prettier. . . There is A LOT of guitar work. Especially from what we thought it was going to sound like, it's a lot riffier, and a lot more diverse. In a weird way, I think it's more — kind of like our last album. More of an '80s rock vibe and elements of a early '90s rock vibe. It's all over the place."
