BLACK VEIL BRIDES Frontman Talks About His Broken Nose
October 29, 2011Vocalist Andy Biersack of Los Angeles theatrical rockers BLACK VEIL BRIDES spoke to Revolver magazine about the onstage accident that took place Wednesday night (October 26) in Luxembourg, which resulted in a broken nose and several postponed dates on the band's current European tour. The singer told the magazine he suffered the injury as a result of his "typical routine to entertain the crowd . rolling around and being crazy."
"Normally, before 'Legacy' goes into a breakdown-y guitar solo-y kind of part, I get down on my knees and do a mock prayer," he said. "I did that and then rolled backwards and stood up and I didn't realize I was directly under the four-foot drum riser. I smashed the bone dead center on my skull. From above my eyebrows, right down the bridge of my nose, that's where I cracked. I was unconscious for a second.
"I knew something terrible had happened immediately," he continued. "I jumped up, but I was still in shock and I started getting really dizzy and stumbled my way offstage and got to the backstage area. I positioned myself in front of a mirror and saw it was huge and ridiculous. And that's when the pain set in and it was pretty excruciating. But there wasn't a lot of bleeding or anything because of where it broke."
After Biersack was taken to hospital in Luxembourg, he was diagnosed with a concussion and is now recovering in a London hotel room. "I would really like to finish the tour," he told Revolver. "I've been advised against it. But I want to try. At the end of the day, if I have to go onstage and be in pain for 40 minutes I'll do my best to give the audience the show that they have already paid for."
**Update**: Biersack posted the following message on his Twitter account earlier today (Saturday, October 29): "London, we will be playing the show tonight at Shepherds Bush Empire despite my injuries. I will be doing my best to sing but due to the nature of my fractured nasal cavity. Breathing has become difficult and painful, so I will need all of you to help us out and lend us your voices. I intend on giving you the show that you deserve but will be taking it one day at a time. Thank you so much for your support and see you tonight."

Biersack broke three ribs on June 18 after trying to jump onto a stage from a 15-foot balcony during the band's concert at Hot Topic in Hollywood, California. Despite the injury, the frontman returned to the stage and finished the gig.
