BLAZE BAYLEY's Guitarist Says UNDERTHREAT Is On Hiatus

December 28, 2007

Guitarist Nicolas Bermudez of the Colombian metal band UNDERTHREAT as well as Blaze Bayley's (ex-IRON MAIDEN, WOLFSBANE) solo project has issued the following update:

"We want to let all of our fans know that UNDERTHREAT is currently inactive as a band due to circumstances of time and space. We are all currently living in different countries from each other and working with other bands. However, this doesn't mean that we have broken up or ended.

"From the beginning, UNDERTHREAT has been about neighbourhood friends who get together to jam and have fun — no compromise, no attachment to preconceived deals or expectations, never about trying to get anywhere, but enjoying every single moment instead, and taking chances and options as they appear. It's been always about the music before anything else and that is what has led us to separate physically following personal interest, natural changes, opportunities and obligations involving metal music, which is our life. When the moment is right, we will gather again to work and record a new album, which is almost finished in its entirety,

"We want to thank to all our fans for their great support all these years. We can't really know at this point when this new album will be out, but you can all be sure that we look forward to the next chance we have to get on it and have it out... and it could be not to far from now."

Metal Mind Productions recently released Blaze Bayley's DVD, entitled "Alive in Poland" (view cover artwork at this location). The disc was recorded at the 21st edition of the Metalmania Festival, which took place on March 24 in Katowice, Poland. Blaze Bayley and his band put on a 90-minute show consisting of the best tracks from BLAZE's discography as well as select cuts from IRON MAIDEN ("Man on the Edge", "Futureal"). The DVD also includes many great bonus features, such as an interview with Blaze Bayley, an interview with all members of Blaze's band (featuring footage filmed during their visit to Poland) and more. A limited-edition "Alive in Poland" release includes a two-CD set with songs recorded at the concert.
