"Blind"-Era C.O.C. Members Reunite For Benefit Show, Ex-C.O.C. Drummer Explores Hardcore Roots

March 23, 2002

Three-fifths of the classic Blind-era line-up of C.O.C. (CORROSION OF CONFORMITY)—drummer Reed Mullin, bassist Phil Swisher and vocalist Karl Agell—will reunite under the name C.O.C. (BLIND) for a benefit show at the Lincoln Theater in Raleigh, North Carolina on Sunday, April 21st in memory of late CONFESSOR guitarist Ivan Colon. Also appearing on the bill will be the reunited original line-up of CONFESSOR, MAN WILL DESTROY HIMSELF and BONESHELTER.

In related news, former C.O.C. drummer and current BROWN frontman Reed Mullin is back playing drums for the above-mentioned Raleigh-based hardcore “supergroup” MAN WILL DESTROY HIMSELF. Featuring Mullin on drums, Abe Quinn (NEGATIVE STATE, LORD NECK) on bass/vocals, Ronnie Dalgo (AFTERMATH AD, BONE SHELTER) on guitar/vocals, and Sam Madison (PIT BOSS, BLOODMOBILE) on guitar/vocals, the newly-formed band's sound has been compared to MINOR THREAT, DISCHARGE, BLACK FLAG, and the BAD BRAINS.

“I've been having a ball playing with BROWN, but I was dying to play drums again,” Mullin recently told www.raleighmusic.com. “Especially old-school hardcore. It's what I grew up on. I haven't been in a band like this in ten years, so it's taken a little while to 'get up to speed', shall we say. I think I got it though. Yep, I got it.”

MAN WILL DESTROY HIMSELF recently recorded their first demo/CD, entitled Consume... Be Silent... Die... and will be performing a CD release show at The Lincoln Theater in Raleigh on Friday, March 29th.
