BLINDSIDE To Tour South Africa

Sweden's BLINDSIDE will embark on a tour of South Africa in September/October. "This will be a very emotional tour for us as a band and it's a blessing to come to South Africa and play," the group writes in a statement. "We've got mails from SA for years and always tried to find a way to get down there."

Oct. 03 - Cape Town, Western Cape, Mercury Live
Oct. 05 - Pretoria, Gauteng, Foundry Fly Lounge

Oct. 07 - Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Burn

In other news, BLINDSIDE has issued the following update:

"In the fall of 2004, we had Christian [Lindskog, vocals] fly away south to collect something special that moved through our souls, started subjects and arose new questions. For the longest time, Christian hesitated on the title 'The Great Depression' and the fear was for something upcoming. We've all felt it these last two years, and I think it has brought us closer.

"2006 has been a bit of surprise. Things seemed so final when we went back from the States. I guess it was some kind of closing, but perhaps only for one part of the world. This year has opened a lot of doors in Europe and we've been caught in a pioneer spirit that we haven't felt since the first times we came to the States. These feelings have led to an amazing will to throw ourselves into creativity. The musical things we've tried out feels very spectacular but we shouldn't say too much until we get things on tape. I don't think we've been this excited to write a new record since we quit our jobs flew to L.A. to record 'Silence'. Once again we want to do a record with a lot of soul and energy in a body that isn't worn out, reborn rather. And what better way to finalize 'The Great Depression' than to bring it to the place where it began two years ago. This is the last thing we do on 'The Great Depression', the last shows we play on this record. How odd that it happens in South Africa. What an amazing opportunity and platform to spread the word and thoughts back to this country. It will be very special be to hear Christian talk to journalists about his memories of Sipo before he passed away of AIDS and to play the song that is about him: 'This Time'. If we ever needed to document something on video it might be when we get to meet this little kid Yamkela, get to know him. I'm sure it will feel different to play that song from then on."
