BRET MICHAELS Talks About TONY AWARDS Incident On 'Today' Show; Video Available

June 22, 2009

POISON singer Bret Michaels was a guest on this morning's (Monday, June 22) edition of NBC's "Today" show. Watch his appearance on the program below.

Due to injuries suffered at the Tony Awards on June 7 when he got clocked in the head by a descending set piece during POISON's performance, Michaels was forced to postpone this past Friday night's (June 19) and Saturday night's (June 20) concerts at the Tachi Palace in Lemoore, California and Cache Creek Casino in Brooks, California, respectively. The new concert dates are Friday, September 18 and Saturday, December 5, respectively. The original tickets will be honored for the new shows.

Michaels has told People.com that he has no plans to file a lawsuit over the Tony Awards incident. "I want to make very clear to everybody that — first and foremost — I was honored to be asked to be at the Tonys," he said. "I'd never done it before and in all my life it's not something I thought I'd be on. I was really excited. There's no lawsuit. I'm not doing any of that. I'm taking the high road."

Despite this weekend's cancelations, Michaels promises to be ready for the launch of the POISON-DEF LEPPARD-CHEAP TRICK tour, which kicks off tomorrow night, June 23, in Camden, New Jersey. "Bret is excited and will be ready to rock [as soon as possible]," reads a statement on his web site.
