BRUCE KULICK: 'I'm Fine!'
October 16, 2003Former KISS and current GRAND FUNK RAILROAD guitarist Bruce Kulick is at home and recovering after being hit by two stray bullets outside a nightclub in Hollywood last night.
Kulick attended a concert by MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil at the Key Club on Sunset Blvd., and left the with a friend at 1:30 a.m. As he walked down the Strip, he heard gunshots. He looked down to see a hole through his leather pants, right above the knee. Next thing he noticed, blood was coming down his leg.
Kulick heard a second bullet whiz past his ear and realized he'd been grazed in his head by it.
The EMS crews arrived immediately and took him to the hospital.
"I'm very grateful for the immediate response of both the crowd and the doctors, and — obviously — the EMS crews," Bruce said in a statement. "I'm fine and very thankful to be alive, and I'm back on the road with GRAND FUNK [RAILROAD]."
This past weekend Bruce and his band GRAND FUNK played two shows in California. On November 8 they will be performing at a benefit for Safe Harbor Animal Rescue and Hospital — a no-kill facility in GRAND FUNK drummer Don Brewer's hometown of Jupiter.
Bruce has plenty of time to recuperate, as the band is taking time off for the holidays. The group plan on returning to the road to do 40 or 50 shows in the New Year.
