BURNING POINT Parts Ways With Drummer, Announces Replacement

June 14, 2008

Drummer Jari Kaiponen has left the Finnish melodic metal band BURNING POINT. Jari says, "It was tough and kind of sad decision and I've been thinking to give up for a while. I just couldn't handle the schedules and time limits for the next album etc. Also I felt that my personal time was very limited and I want to give 100% if I'm gonna keep doing this. That's why I felt that it was better for me to step aside. Now on I'm concentrating fully on NATIONAL NAPALM SYNDICATE, which is my other band."

Kaiponen's replacement in BURNING POINT is none other than the group's keyboardist, Jussi Ontero. A new keyboard player will soon join the band to round out BURNING POINT's current lineup.

BURNING POINT recently entered Helgate Studios in the group's hometown of Oulu to begin recording its fourth album for a late 2008 release. The band laid down a total of 17 tracks 11 new originals, four covers and new versions of two of the group's older songs. The complete track listing will be announced soon.

BURNING POINT's third album, "Burned Down the Enemy", was released last year via Metal Heaven Records. The mixing sessions for "Burned Down the Enemy" took place at the Tonebox studio in Oulu. Kari "Kakke" Vhkuopus, who handled the mixing process for the previous albums, "Salvation by Fire" and "Feeding the Flames", once again helmed the sessions. The CD was mastered at Finnvox studios in Helsinki.

Video footage of BURNING POINT's June 8, 2008 concert at Club Teatria in Oulu, Finland (where they supported SEBASTIAN BACH) can be viewed below.
