BUSH Twins Wanted KID ROCK At Inaugural Concert

January 26, 2005

ContactMusic.com is reporting that a top producer at George W. Bush's inaugural concert has confirmed KID ROCK was sought to perform at the celebration - by the President's twin daughters Jenna and Barbara.

Reports that Kid Rock was to play last week's inaugural youth concert in Washington, D.C., prompted a flurry of protests against the singer and denials by organizers he'd ever been booked.

But veteran producer George Schlatter tells People magazine the Bush twins asked to have Rock perform at the party.

He says, "Kid Rock was just a mistake. When I heard he was going to perform, I said, 'Are you sure?'

"The two Bush girls requested Kid Rock — they love him. He's hot, and he's young. But nobody at the (inaugural) committee ever sat down and listened to his albums."

Rock's rumored inclusion led conservative groups to protest, claiming the singer's lyrics and image were not in line with family values.

Instead of Rock, the youth concert featured HILARY DUFF, JOJO, 3 DOORS DOWN and the rock band FUEL — whose lead singer, Brett Scallions, caused a controversy of his own when he cursed during the band's performance, "Welcome to the greatest fucking country in the world!"
