BYZANTINE Part Ways With Bassist
February 5, 2005West Virginia-based "tech-metal" band BYZANTINE have parted ways with longtime bassist Chris "Cid" Adams due to "musical differences." A replacement bassist has yet to be announced.
Along with guitarist/vocalist Chris Ojeda Adams was a founding member of the Morgantown, WV thrash metal band NEW FAMILY in 1998 and then formed BYZANTINE with Ojeda and guitarist Tony Rohrbough in 2000. Drummer Matt Wolfe joined the band in 2002.
BYZANTINE are currently in the studio recording their sophomore album, "...And They Shall Take Up Serpents", tentatively due in May via Prosthetic Records. Mixing the CD will be former WRATHCHILD AMERICA/SOULS AT ZERO bassist/vocalist Brad Divens, who has previously worked with FU MANCHU, KILGORE and MINDSET, among others.
The follow-up to 2004's "The Fundamental Component" will include 10 tracks, nine of which will be "brand new," according to a posting on the group's web site. The band will also be recording an as-yet-undisclosed cover song.
