CAMP FREDDY Announces West Hollywood Residency
April 24, 2008CAMP FREDDY the Los Angeles-based "jam" group featuring Dave Navarro (ex-JANE'S ADDICTION, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS),Billy Morrison (ex-THE CULT bassist, current CIRCUS DIABLO vocalist),Matt Sorum (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES),Donovan Leitch (son of legendary folk singer Donovan),and Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION, ALANIS MORRISETTE) will take over the Sunset Strip in May when it headlines a Thursday night residency at The Roxy in West Hollywood. The five shows May 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 are presented by Indie 103.1 in association with Galpin Auto Sports and Velvet Angels. CAMP FREDDY will be joined by a different array of surprise guests every week as they dive into a treasure trove of classic songs encompassing glam, punk and hard rock. True to the CAMP FREDDY experience, you never know who or what will happen at their gigs. The residency will feature Mark McGrath (SUGAR RAY) every week, and some of the confirmed special guests include (in alphabetical order):

CAMP FREDDY fans have come to expect some very special collaborations spontaneous and unbridledat the band's shows.
"We play some of the greatest rock and roll songs ever written, have a real laugh doing it, and invite artists that we respect to play them with us," notes CAMP FREDDY in its mission statement. "It's the real spirit of rock and roll."
In advance of the residency, The Roxy has sponsored a contest via its web site to find the best local bands to open the shows. The top ten bands chosen by the venue will be voted on by fans in the coming weeks; each winning band will have the opportunity to open for CAMP FREDDY at one show in May. The top ten bands are: DRIVE A, RIOT: NOISE, KILLED BY DESIGN, LOVE SAID NO, ATTIC OF LOVE, MOVING PICTURE SHOW, LIFE AFTER MARY, MELOTIA and WICKHEAD.
Since their formation six years ago when they rocked the opening of The Standard Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles at the invitation of Brent Bolthouse, CAMP FREDDY have performed on both coasts of America and on national television shows ("The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", "Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn", "Last Call with Carson Daly"). CAMP FREDDY also hosts a weekly radio show on Los Angeles' acclaimed Indie 103.1 every Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
