CAMP FREDDY Mayhem
February 18, 2008CAMP FREDDY — the Los Angeles-based "jam" group featuring guitarists Dave Navarro (ex-JANE'S ADDICTION, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) and Billy Morrison (ex-THE CULT bassist, current CIRCUS DIABLO vocalist) alongside VELVET REVOLVER members Matt Sorum (drums) and Scott Weiland (vocals) — has issued the following update:
"CAMP FREDDY will be taking over the world-famous Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles every Thursday night during the month of May for our very first residency. Each week we will perform a different set list and the evening's performance will culminate with two or three songs featuring our very special guests of the night. We will not be advertising these guests in advance. The band will be joined each week by our good friend, and longtime CAMP FREDDY cohort, Mr. Mark McGrath [SUGAR RAY]. Mark will perform each week with us and will join Donovan in hosting the evenings festivities. I am sure that a friend or two might appear onstage at each gig as well. Tickets will be available to everyone and I will give you all more details when we have them."
CAMP FREDDY has been in and out of the recording studio over the past few years recording what is expected to eventually be released as the band's debut album. Among the cuts that are set to appear on the effort are "20th Century Boy" (also featuring Steve Jones from THE SEX PISTOLS on lead guitar) and THIN LIZZY's "Jailbreak" (featuring ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell on vocals and Billy Duffy [ex-THE CULT] on lead guitar). Other guest musicians include RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith and singer Macy Gray.
