Canada's NORTHERN LIGHTS FESTIVAL Officially Cancelled
March 12, 2005The organizers of the third installment of Northern Lights Festival have cancelled this year's event.
"After a week or so of deliberation, both Noel at Inertia Entertainment and myself have decided to cancel this year’s Northern Lights 2005," Adrian Bromley of Unrestrained! magazine, which organized the festival, said in a statement.
"Out of respect to the bands and the fans, we felt it was important to make this decision now — almost four months before the show — rather then waiting 'till the last minute to pull the plug.
"We are canceling this year's fest for two reasons: First, ticket sales have not met the target set for this point in time. Second, we have recently learned that the Sounds of the Underground (18 bands; all-day festival) is planned to hit Toronto the same weekend as Northern Lights Festival 2005. As a result of the conflicting shows, we don’t believe that we’ll be able to meet our target ticket sales for Northern Lights Festival 2005.
"We deeply regret any inconvenience this may have caused participating bands and all the metalheads that planned to attend Northern Lights Festival 2005."
Northern Lights 2005 was scheduled to take place July 2 at The Opera House in Toronto, Canada. Acts confirmed for the festival included USURPER, HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE, IMPALED NAZARENE, UNEXPECT, LILITU, WOODS OF YPRES, BRAVE, THE FIFTH SUN, AUGURY, WIDOW and ENDORPHINS.
