Canadian Trial Adjourned Because Of AC/DC Concert
August 18, 2009Damien Wood of Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada's Daily Herald Tribune reports: Court made way for a bit of humor yesterday, as Judge Morris Golden decided he would "Let There Be Rock."
Defence attorney Kevin Gubbins approached on behalf of law partner Christian Banks and explained Banks needed an adjournment on an August 27 trial because he has tickets for an AC/DC concert.
When Golden asked Crown prosecutor Jeff Morrison if there would be any objection to the request, Morrison said he was speechless and left it to the court.
The August 27 trial for a Joshua M. MacInnis charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and failure to provide a breath sample will now take place Dec. 15.
"I applaud his candor in admitting the reason for his adjournment application. I disagree with his taste in music, but that's beside the point," said Morrison outside the courtroom.
"Those were my instructions," said an amused Gubbins.
