CANDLEMASS Focusing On Singer Hunt
December 20, 2006Legendary Swedish doomsters CANDLEMASS have posted the following message on their official webi site:
"In these days of stress and X-mas overload to celebrate the commersial interests, CANDLEMASS will instead focus on the hunt for a new singer. The band will try some interesting people over the weekends and hopefully a new guy can be found and introduced in January.
"CANDLEMASS sincerely thank each and every one of you cool singers that applied. They have heard many great voices!
"The auditions will take place in Stockholm, with Scandinavians singers mainly.
"Also, watch this space closely....there will be a CANDLEMASS 20-years-as-a-band celebration in Stockholm soon. The band will play with some ultra cool guests on an evening that won't be forgotten for a long time!! If you miss that, you'll be a sorry fuck for the rest of your life!!"
CANDLEMASS announced on Oct. 23 that vocalist Messiah Marcolin was out of the band "for good."

As previously reported, Messiah Marcolin contacted BLABBERMOUTH.NET on April 28, 2006 to announce that he was leaving the band with no possibility of him rejoining. "We could not agree on how to do the new album," Messiah stated at the time while refusing to elaborate on his sudden exit.
CANDLEMASS' upcoming CD — a concept album about the road to ruin in the modern society — is being self-produced and will feature nine or ten tracks.
CANDLEMASS recorded four new songs with the help of producer Andy Sneap (NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD) in late February at the Polar studios. At the time, Leif Edling said of the material, "The songs are pretty much in the same vein as the stuff on the [self-titled 2005] reunion album, maybe a bit darker."
