February 27, 2009"Evisceration Plague", the new video from Tampa, Florida-based death metallers CANNIBAL CORPSE, can be viewed below. The clip was shot on January 21 in northern New Jersey with veteran video director Dale "Rage" Resteghini, who has previously worked with MUDVAYNE, TRIVIUM and HATEBREED, among many others.
"Evisceration Plague" is the title track of the band's new album, which has registered the following first-week chart positions:
Austria: #41
Canada: #38
Germany: #42
Holland: #105
USA: #66
"Evisceration Plague" sold 9,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release. (Note: Nielsen SoundScan initially reported a first-week total of 7,500 for "Evisceration Plague", but that number has since been "adjusted," according to the band's record label, Metal Blade Records.) This is more than 50 percent higher than the opening tally of the band's previous CD, "Kill" (2006),which landed at No. 170 after shifting more than 6,000 copies. In 1996, CANIBAL CORPSE's "Vile" premiered at No. 151, with more than 6,100 copies sold.
Commented bassist Alex Webster: "In CANNIBAL CORPSE, our goal has always been to try and make each new album we record our heaviest. That goal was a bit more challenging this time since we were extremely satisfied with our last album 'Kill', but we knew that by working with producer Erik Rutan at Mana Recording Studios again, we would be able to start at that same level of heaviness and take it even further. 'Evisceration Plague' has the best guitar sound we've ever recorded, and the entire band has never played with more precision and power."
"Evisceration Plague" is available as a limited-edition digipack including a bonus track and bonus DVD, jewelcase CD and on limited splatter vinyl.
"Kill" has sold more than 55,000 copies in the United States since its 2006 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
