CANNIBAL CORPSE: 'The Death Metal Scene In Mexico And Central America Is As Strong As Ever'
May 23, 2007Legendary death metallers CANNIBAL CORPSE have issued the following update:
"We have just returned from a short but excellent tour of Mexico and Guatemala. We want to say thank you to all of the great fans who came to see us, you made the tour a huge success. The death metal scene in Mexico and Central America is clearly as strong as ever, and we look forward to returning in the future to see all of our friends and fans there. We also want to say thank you to Carlo and crew for doing a great job with the organization of the tour, and to our own crew as well. The schedule was sometimes hectic during the tour, but you guys did a great job keeping it all together. We also want to thank the local promoters and crews for their hard work and hospitality.
"We are also very pleased to announce that we are in the process of finalizing more tour dates for Central and South America. These dates will be in countries we didn't play on this recent tour, and will likely be scheduled for mid-to-late August. We will have an update on this very soon.
"OK, that's all for now. Thanks again to all of the fans that attended the shows in Mexico and Guatemala; you guys rule!"
A video interview with CANNIBAL CORPSE bassist Alex Webster, conducted earlier in March 2007 by Metalfan.ro in Bucharest, Romania, as well as live footage from the band's concert in Bucharest, has been posted online at this location. To celebrate Metal Blade's 25th anniversary, the label reissued CANNIBAL CORPSE's 1996 fifth studio album — the first to feature current vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher — "Vile", with an additional four-track DVD filmed at San Francisco's Berkeley Square on February 3, 1997. The CD features a 12-page booklet and completely revised artwork.
CANNIBAL CORPSE's video for the song "Death Walking Terror" has been posted online at YouTube.com. The track comes off "Kill", the band's 10th studio LP, which came out in March 2006. The album debuted at No. 170 on The Billboard 200 chart, selling more than 6,000 copies in its first week. It was the second time in the band's career that one of its albums breached the mostly pop-friendly list; in 1996, "Vile" opened at No. 151, with more than 6,100 copies sold.
