CEPHALECTOMY: New Album To Be Made Available As Free Download

January 29, 2009

Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada-based death/grind metallers CEPHALECTOMY have issued the following update:

"CEPHALECTOMY has decided to make their upcoming album, 'An Epitaph To Tranquility', a free download, which will be available on their website when completed. Instead of sinking money into CDs, which they feel is a dying format, CEPHALECTOMY will put those funds towards other merchandise, like shirts, patches, etc. The band however realizes there's people who would rather an actual CD and for those people, the option to pre-order the album is now available. If you must own a hard copy of this album, you're advised to pre-order to secure yours. There will be a few copies printed otherwise, but these will be first come, first served and some will be reserved for promos, therefore leaving very few copies for actual sale."

"An Epitaph To Tranquility" is due out sometime this spring.

CEPHALECTOMY's video for the song "The Igniting Tempest" can be viewed below. The song was recorded to help promote the "The Dream Cycle Mythos" EP, a 23-minute long song which was released in 2007.

Originally formed under a different name during the mid 1990s, CEPHALECTOMY went through several lineup and stylistic changes before finally coming together in 1998 as a solid project. Drawing from a variety of extreme styles, including death metal, black metal and grind, the band released its first demo, entitled "Gateway to the Gods", in 1997.
